Gary continues the family legacy in the jewellery business and is the third generation of Pillow’s to do so.
His earliest memories of the trade were as a young schoolboy during holidays when he would visit their family business with his father to say hello to all the staff. The smell of jewellers rouge, the flickering of torch flames and the percussion section of hammer on mandrel was all it took, and it was in the veins of another generation.
Gary joined the business in 1980 and began a journey of discovery into an industry like no other. There was so much to learn, gemmology, metallurgy, design model making & product development, lost wax casting, bench skills, finishing and polishing, stone setting.
So, he started at the beginning and is happy to say that every day since he began his career in the jewellery business is a learning day.
Having previously worked in the Newspaper and Magazine Industry in sales and marketing, Vicki Joined the company in 2014 as Marketing Director. Since joining Vicki has implemented marketing strategies across all the brands in the company’s product portfolio. Vicki’s focus is to ensure our customers are kept informed about the company’s products and services and that our customers and resellers have the utmost support of the Dublin office.
Louise joined the company in 1999 and learned the ropes in the fulfilment department processing and invoicing orders. She quickly gained an understanding of the business and learned the importance of great customer service. In 2003 Louise took up a position as stock controller and is responsible for many aspects of stock management today. Louise’s great talents for dealing with our customers emerged as she began dealing more and more with customers’ specific needs. Her warmth and efficiency in dealing with customers, and the ability to anticipate their needs, earned her a promotion to Customer Services Manager in 2014
Having served his five-year training apprenticeship with another firm, Martin came to work at TJH in 1995 where he continued his training as a bench goldsmith. With a keen eye for detail and great all-round understanding of the production process, Martin is Louise’s go to guy for special customer requests. Martin manages our busy workshop which deals with thousands of wedding band orders, a large portion of which must make a deadline for someone’s special wedding day.
Shortly after leaving school, David joined TJH as a young apprentice in 1998 and learned his craft under the watchful eye of our then Master Jeweller and designer Johannes Lilienfelt. Having completed his apprentice, David left to undergo additional training and afterwards continued to work within the jewellery trade in Dublin. In 2015 David came to ply his craft with us again and he and Martin work hand in glove to ensure every item that leaves the workshop is as good as it gets.
Margaret is the most recent addition to our team having joined us in 2017. She came to the company with a wealth of experience in the jewellery sector and manages the stockroom ensuring orders are correctly fulfilled and despatched on time. In the short time since she has joined the company, Margaret has shown a great aptitude for the IT systems which help ensure the smooth running of this aspect of our customer service department.
